FRITZ CLAIMS TITLE IN ATLANTA

ATP 250 ATLANTA.By Emiliano Naftali
Taylor Fritz, ranked number nine in the ATP rankings, was crowned champion of the ATP 250 tournament in Atlanta this Sunday, defeating the Australian Aleksandar Vukic, ranked number 82, with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-7(5), and 6-4. This marks the sixth title in Fritz’s career, having previously been a finalist in Atlanta back in 2017.

Fritz secured his second tournament victory of the season, following his triumph in Delray Beach, but he faced tougher opposition than anticipated from Vukic, who saved two match points in the second set and took it in the tiebreaker to force a decisive third set.

Nevertheless, the American managed a crucial break, at love, in the seventh game of the third set, paving the way with his powerful serves towards the final 6-4 victory.

As the top seed, Fritz will compete in the ATP 500 tournament in Washington next week.
