«PATCH NOLE»

Serbian Novak Djokovic, ranked third in the world, secured his spot in the third round of Roland Garros for the 18th consecutive season after defeating Hungarian Marton Fucsovics 7-6(2), 6-0, and 6-3. He will face Spanish Alejandro Davidovich for a place in the quarterfinals. Djokovic was asked about the patch he had attached to his chest, and jokingly replied after the victory over Fucsovics in the second round of the tournament, «I liked Ironman when I was a child.»

However, the 36-year-old tennis player once again made news due to a curious image that occurred during the match. When he took off his shirt to clean himself between games, he revealed a chip attached with tape in the middle of his chest.

This detail did not go unnoticed by the journalists who attended the press conference after Nole’s victory, and it was there that they asked him about that patch. «When I was a child, I liked Iron Man, that’s why I try to imitate him,» joked the Belgrade native at first.

«My team utilizes nanotechnology to ensure my best performance on the court. This is the big secret of my career; otherwise, I wouldn’t be sitting here,» revealed the current number 3 in the ATP rankings and the only member of the famous Big Three present at the tournament.

The chip in question is an invention created by the Italian nanodevice company Tao Patch, which serves to combat sedentary behavior and correct body posture, among other things. This small device has multiple layers of nanocrystals that capture body heat and convert it into a gentle light that stimulates the nervous system in specific parts of the body, a process known as light therapy. It also helps reduce stress, anxiety, and chronic pain.
