BOTH CHASING THE GLORY

US OPEN. Men´s single. by Gabriel Matteazzi
Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Italy’s Jannik Sinner will clash once again this Sunday in the 2025 US Open final, adding another chapter to one of the sport’s most captivating rivalries. This will not be just another showdown: both the trophy and the world No. 1 ranking are at stake.

The 22-year-old from Murcia arrives in peak form, reaching his eighth consecutive tour final. In the semifinals, Alcaraz dismantled Novak Djokovic with authority, sealing a straight-sets victory 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2.

Sinner, on the other hand, battled through against Felix Auger-Aliassime, overcoming abdominal discomfort to prevail 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Italian downplayed the issue afterward, determined to stay focused on the challenge ahead.

This will be their 15th meeting overall and the seventh time they’ve faced each other in a final. Alcaraz currently leads the head-to-head 9-5, including a 4-2 advantage in finals.

A Tale of Grand Slam Finals
Both men already boast impressive résumés on the sport’s biggest stages. Alcaraz has won three Grand Slam titles—two at the US Open (2022, 2024) and one at Wimbledon (2023)—and has reached five finals in total. Each time he has stepped into a major championship match, he has shown composure beyond his years.

Sinner, meanwhile, has rapidly built his own legacy. The Italian lifted his maiden Slam trophy at the 2024 Australian Open and reached back-to-back finals at Wimbledon (2024, 2025), where he fell just short. Sunday’s clash gives him a golden opportunity to capture his second major title and cement his status as a perennial force at the very top of men’s tennis.

With youth, firepower, and the No. 1 ranking on the line, the US Open final promises to be a battle for the ages between two champions still writing the early chapters of their greatness.
