ALCARAZ Reclaims World No. 1 with Second US Open Crown

US OPEN Men´s singles
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner 3-1 (6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4) and, starting Monday, September 8, will once again be the ATP World No. 1. At just 22 years old, he has already captured six Grand Slam titles, adding his second Major of a dream season. Here are the keys to his second US Open triumph.

The Spaniard and the Italian have faced each other 14 times in recent years, with Alcaraz winning nine of those encounters, including three out of four meetings in 2025. Their most recent clash in Cincinnati ended abruptly due to Sinner’s injury.

Alcaraz’s name is already etched alongside legends like Bjorn Borg and Rafael Nadal, who also reached six Grand Slam titles by his age. His bond with New York runs deep: it was here in 2022 that he lifted his first Major trophy and climbed to World No. 1 for the first time. Now, after dethroning Sinner and reclaiming the top spot in the ATP rankings, the Murcian star has left the door wide open to keep expanding his legacy.
