DJOKOVIC FOR MORE GLORY

WIMBLEDON. London. By Emiliano Naftali
Novak Djokovic, the reigning Wimbledon champion and number 2 in the ATP rankings, defeated Italian Jannik Sinner (8) 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) in two hours and 46 minutes, securing his ninth final in this Grand Slam.

Djokovic, 36 years old, has 7,595 points in the world rankings and remains behind Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz (7,675), who was facing Russian Daniil Medvedev for a place in the final.

The Serbian tennis player eliminated the same opponent at Wimbledon for the second consecutive time, who is 15 years younger than “Nole,” although in the previous edition, it was in the quarterfinals.

If he manages to win his eighth Wimbledon crown, Djokovic will equal the historical record set by the retired Swiss player Roger Federer, one of the greatest in the history of tennis.

“That could have changed the course of the match. I felt very nervous after the umpire’s warning, but I managed to control it,” said the reigning champion regarding the umpire’s words about taking more than 25 seconds to serve.

“The third set could have gone his way. He missed some shots and allowed me to go into the tiebreak. I feel a lot of motivation, and I am inspired to play the tennis I love,” Djokovic stated after his victory.
