Serbia
With Roland Garros just around the corner, Novak Djokovic surprised everyone by announcing his split from coach and former player Andy Murray. During the six months they worked together, the Serbian failed to win a single title under Murray’s guidance.
Djokovic had enthusiastically announced Murray’s arrival in November 2024 with a clear message: “Welcome Coach Andy.” However, the results never followed. The first major setback came in Australia, where he was forced to retire from the Australian Open semifinal due to injury. In Miami, he reached the final but lost to Jakub Mensik. Since the clay court season began in April, Djokovic has played only two matches—and lost both: to Alejandro Tabilo in Monte Carlo (6-3, 6-4) and Matteo Arnaldi in Madrid (6-3, 6-4).
Djokovic opted out of the Rome Masters 1000, and his next stop on the tour will be next week in Geneva, as a warm-up before Roland Garros, which kicks off on May 25. All signs suggest the Serbian will arrive in Paris without a coach.
