Aryna Sabalenka defeated Danielle Collins 6-4, 6-4 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Miami Open by Itau, held at the Hard Rock Stadium. With a very convincing performance, she outplayed Collins, surpassing her in break points, converting 3 out of 9 compared to just one from her opponent.
Sabalenka started 2025 strong, winning the Brisbane International title and reaching the Australian Open final. Although she faced some obstacles during the Middle East swing, she made an impressive comeback in Indian Wells, narrowly missing out on the title. She began her Miami Open campaign with confidence, advancing after her opponent, Elena-Gabriela Ruse, retired mid-match in the Round of 32. After the match, Sabalenka expressed concern for Ruse, saying: “I hope she recovers soon. It’s hard to say much about this match.”
On the other hand, Collins reached the Round of 16 in Miami for the fourth time in her career, following a tough 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Switzerland’s Rebeka Masarova. After the match, she spoke about how she channels her frustration effectively on the court.
