SINNER CROWNED CHAMPION

WIMBLEDON. Men’s Final
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has dethroned World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz to clich the Wimbledon 2025 men’s singles title. Sinner beat Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 6-4 to become the first Italian man to win Wimbledon in the competition’s 148-year history.
After winning five straight Grand Slam finals, Carlos Alcaraz has finally been beaten. It also marks Alcaraz’s first loss to Sinner after five straight wins. He made the perfect start, made a superb comeback to clinch the first set. But was firmly second-best after that.

Alcaraz had won the past five head-to-head matches between the pair, most recently across five sets and nearly 5 1/2 hours at Roland-Garros on June 8. Sinner took a two-set lead in that one, then held a trio of match points, but couldn’t close the deal. That made Alcaraz 5-0 in major finals.

The new Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner had this to say at the presentation ceremony: “I would like to start with Carlos (Alcaraz). It was an amazing tournament, but mostly thank you for being the player you are. It is so difficult to play against you.

“We have an amazing relationship off the court, and on the court as well. We need the best teams in the world, and we both have that.
“You are going to hold this (Wimbledon major trophy) many times. I mean, you already have two (laughs).
“It is so special, because seeing my parents here, my brother, my whole team – it is amazing.
“Special thanks to my brother as there is no Formula One race this weekend, so that’s why he is here (laughs).
