US OPEN. Men’s Singles. By Gabriel Matteazzi
Carlos Alcaraz produced another dominant performance at the US Open 2025, advancing to the quarterfinals with a straight-sets win over the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, 7-6(3), 6-3, 6-4. Rinderknech threw everything at the Spaniard but ultimately could not withstand Alcaraz’s power and consistency.
The match began with tension, as the opening set was decided in a tight tiebreak. Once Alcaraz secured that lead, however, he took control of the second set with a key break in the sixth game, setting the tone for a smooth victory. In New York, the world No. 2 has yet to drop a set through his four matches, having previously defeated Reilly Opelka (No. 67), Mattia Bellucci (No. 65), and Luciano Darderi (No. 34).
Up next for Alcaraz is Jiri Lehecka (No. 21), who overcame Adrian Mannarino in four sets, 7-6(4), 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. This will be their fourth career meeting: the Czech won earlier this year in Dubai, while Alcaraz prevailed in Queens 2021 and in the 2025 final.
Beyond this US Open run, Alcaraz’s record at the Grand Slams continues to build an aura of inevitability. Since winning his first major at the US Open in 2022, he has added Wimbledon 2023 and Roland Garros 2024 to his collection, making him one of the youngest players in history to hold three different majors. His ability to dominate across surfaces at such a young age has positioned him as the natural heir to tennis’s Big Three era.
