CERUNDOLO FOR GLORY

ATP 250 ARGENTINA OPEN. By Leo Canaparo
Francisco Cerúndolo secured a victory against Spain’s Pablo Martínez with a 6-2, 6-4 win in just 94 minutes. The Argentine guaranteed his second appearance in the Argentina Open final after falling short to Diego Schwartzman a couple of years ago.

The 28-year-old had to overcome Italy’s Luciano Darderi in the first round and then face his younger brother, Juan Manuel Cerúndolo, in the quarterfinals. Additionally, he defeated World No. 2 Alexander Zverev along the way.

“I hope you’re all in full force and make yourselves heard because I saw many Brazilians here. I want us to feel at home. Let’s go all out!” After securing his spot in the Argentina Open final with a big win over Pedro Martínez, Francisco Cerúndolo made a special request to Argentine fans.

“It’s going to be a very tough match. Joao is a player who will soon be among the best in the world. He’s growing rapidly and playing great tennis. Although he’s still developing and refining his game, his level is already impressive. I’ll have to play my best tennis because it’s going to be a battle. He’ll be aiming for his first title at all costs, and I’ll be aiming to win here at home. There will be a lot of people, so it’s going to be a great final,” anticipated the Argentine.
