GAUFF AND FRITZ LEAD USA TO THE GLORY

UNITED CUP. By Gabriel Matteazzi. Nextennis.
The triumphs of Coco Gauff over Iga Swiatek and Taylor Fritz over Hubert Hurkacz have secured the 2025 United Cup title for the United States, making them the most successful nation in the history of the competition.

The inaugural edition of the United Cup now has its champion. The United States claimed the title in the 2023 United Cup by defeating Italy in the final. The Americans dominated with a decisive 3-0 victory in the overall score.

The final began with Jessica Pegula defeating Martina Trevisan 6-4, 6-2. Frances Tiafoe then overcame Lorenzo Musetti following the latter’s retirement. Finally, Taylor Fritz sealed the United States’ victory with a hard-fought 7-6, 7-6 win over Matteo Berrettini.

“It’s amazing for the team to win this tournament. We came in with high hopes—or at least I did. I was very happy to be in the position to secure the title,” Fritz said after the victory.

With this triumph, the United States claimed the first-ever United Cup title. Along the way, they defeated the Czech Republic and Germany in the group stage, eliminated Great Britain in the quarterfinals, and overcame Poland in the semifinals.
