Frenchman Quentin Halys achieved the biggest milestone of his professional career on Saturday, lifting his first ATP Tour title at the Generali Open Kitzbühel. The 29-year-old defeated defending champion Alexander Bublik 6-4, 7-6(6) in a high-quality final to complete a flawless week without dropping a single set.
“It’s impossible not to think about my family,” Halys said during the trophy ceremony. “Ever since I was a kid, my dream was to win an ATP title, and today that dream came true. Thanks to my parents, my grandparents, and everyone who made this possible.”
Halys stepped onto the court full of confidence, opening the match with four consecutive aces in his first service game. His powerful serve and aggressive baseline game allowed him to neutralize Bublik’s unpredictable shot-making and creativity. After one hour and 34 minutes, the Frenchman sealed a memorable victory and the biggest trophy of his career.
“It’s crazy. I’m so happy,” Halys said in his on-court interview. “I think I played a fantastic match today. Sascha is an amazing player, and I knew I had to produce my very best tennis to beat him. I managed to do that, and I’m incredibly happy. The crowd has been amazing, and I hope everyone enjoyed the match as much as I did.”
The title marks a significant breakthrough for Halys, who has spent years establishing himself on the ATP Tour after overcoming injuries and periods of inconsistency.
