Twelve American players began their journey in the main draw of the Delray Beach Open, but by the time Sunday’s final arrived, none remained in contention.
For the first time since 2019, the Delray Beach Open final showcased a clash between two European players, both 25 years old, who delivered an intense baseline battle that lasted over two hours.
Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia secured his second ATP title after mounting a remarkable comeback against Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, overcoming a one-set deficit and saving a match point in the deciding set to win 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.
Ranked 57th in the world, Kecmanovic trailed 4-1 and 5-2 in the final set but rallied with his quick footwork and pinpoint groundstrokes to seize the victory. “It’s just a relief,” Kecmanovic admitted. “This week was stressful, and winning a title after five years makes it all the more special.”
Davidovich Fokina, ranked 60th, had previously defeated tournament favorite Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals on Friday and seemed poised to claim the trophy in his debut at the Delray Beach Tennis Center. However, the title ultimately slipped from his grasp.
