Andrey Rublev returned to the winner’s circle on Sunday by claiming his second Nordea Open crown in Bastad, defeating Italy’s Luciano Darderi 6-4, 6-3 in a composed performance that lasted just 1 hour and 16 minutes.
The top seed proved too strong for the tournament’s No. 2 seed in a final featuring two players who had previously lifted the trophy on the Swedish clay. Rublev controlled the match from the baseline, striking with authority and consistency to secure his 18th ATP Tour singles title.
The victory also ended a lengthy title drought for the Russian, whose previous ATP triumph came in Doha in 2025—another tournament where he is now a two-time champion.
“I feel really good. Winning here for a second time is something special,” Rublev said after the final. “I can’t say much more because the match has just finished and the adrenaline is still there. I’m happy with the level I showed throughout the week and to be able to win the title.”
At 28 years old, Rublev continues to establish himself as one of the most consistent performers on the ATP Tour. His triumph in Bastad marks the 18th title of his career and reinforces his reputation as a dangerous player on clay courts. Having now won the Swedish ATP 250 twice, Bastad has become one of the most successful stops of his career.
The title also provides an important confidence boost as the ATP Tour transitions from the clay season to the North American hard-court swing, where Rublev will look to carry this momentum into the build-up for the US Open.
