Sebastián Báez has reached his third final of the season at the ATP 250 in Bucharest, defeating local favorite Marton Fucsovics with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory. The Argentine will now fight for his eighth career title this Sunday against Italy’s Flavio Cobolli.
“It felt better than yesterday—today was the first time we had sun,” said Báez, currently ranked No. 36 in the world. “I’m happy to be playing at this level. I think I played really well today.”
And the stats back it up: Báez landed 79% of his first serves, while Fucsovics struggled with 37 unforced errors.
“The score may look one-sided, but it was a close match. I faced several break points,” the 24-year-old added. “Now I’ll talk to my coach and plan for tomorrow’s final.”
