At just 19 years old, the Leganés native has cracked the world’s Top 20 for the first time after securing a place in the semifinals of the ATP 500 in Washington with an impressive comeback victory over Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4, in a match that lasted two hours.
With the win over Musetti, Jodar is guaranteed to climb to World No. 19 when the new ATP rankings are released on Monday, regardless of the outcome of his semifinal against Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo, who produced an upset by defeating American Ben Shelton. The other semifinal will feature an all-American clash between Brandon Nakashima and Taylor Fritz.
