PREMIER PADEL MAKES HISTORY IN LONDON

London P1 – Premier Padel
Premier Padel made its long-awaited debut in the United Kingdom with a spectacular week of action at Olympia London, as the London P1 concluded on Sunday, August 9, bringing some of the biggest stars of professional padel to one of the world’s most iconic sporting cities.

The tournament, held from August 2 to 9, represented an important step in the international expansion of padel. London became one of the new destinations on the Premier Padel calendar in 2026, following the circuit’s first events in countries such as South Africa and reinforcing the sport’s ambition to establish itself in new markets.

Coello and Tapia remain the benchmark

The men’s competition once again highlighted the extraordinary consistency of Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, the world’s leading pair.

The Spanish-Argentine duo continued to demonstrate why they have dominated Premier Padel throughout the season, overcoming another demanding week in London and maintaining their position at the top of the professional game.

Coello and Tapia have built an extraordinary rivalry with Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto, with their encounters becoming one of the defining stories of the 2026 season.

Their ability to combine Coello’s power and attacking presence with Tapia’s creativity, speed and extraordinary shot-making has made them one of the most difficult partnerships to beat on the circuit.

Calvo and Fernández create history

The women’s tournament produced one of the most remarkable stories of the week.

Claudia Fernández and Martina Calvo captured the London P1 title after defeating world No. 1s Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea 7-5, 6-3 in the final. The victory was particularly significant because Fernández and Calvo were playing only their second tournament together. Their immediate success confirms the enormous potential of this young partnership.

For 18-year-old Martina Calvo, the triumph was historic. She became the youngest player ever to win a Premier Padel tournament, surpassing the previous record held by Andrea Ustero. Calvo and Fernández were particularly impressive in the decisive moments. After a tightly contested opening set, they managed to raise their level at the beginning of the second, building a 5-0 advantage that ultimately proved decisive.

A new chapter for padel in Britain

Beyond the sporting results, the London P1 represented something much bigger for the sport. The arrival of Premier Padel in the British capital is part of the circuit’s strategy to expand beyond its traditional European and Latin American markets. London offers enormous potential, particularly because padel has experienced significant growth in the United Kingdom in recent years.

The tournament also demonstrated the ability of professional padel to adapt to major international cities and attract audiences outside the sport’s traditional strongholds.

Olympia London provided a spectacular setting for the competition, combining the atmosphere of a major international event with the increasingly global identity of Premier Padel.

The London P1 therefore leaves more than just two champions behind. Coello-Tapia once again confirmed their status among the sport’s elite, while Fernández-Calvo announced the arrival of a new generation in women’s padel.

For Premier Padel, meanwhile, London represents the beginning of a new chapter — one that could prove fundamental to the sport’s growth in the United Kingdom and beyond.
