ALCARAZ TRIUMPHS OVER MUSETTI TO CLAIM MONTE-CARLO TITLE

M 1000 ROLEX MONTE-CARLO
Carlos Alcaraz secured the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 crown with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory over Lorenzo Musetti in a dramatic and emotionally charged final.

The Spaniard struggled early on, plagued by a flurry of unforced errors that handed the opening set to the Italian. But Alcaraz rebounded strongly in the second, dominating the baseline rallies and dictating the tempo, though closing the set proved a challenge—an intense final game stretched over eight minutes before he finally leveled the match.

In the third set, misfortune struck Musetti, who suffered an apparent injury. Despite receiving treatment from the physiotherapist during the first changeover, the Italian was visibly hindered in his movement and ultimately unable to continue competing at full capacity. Alcaraz capitalized, sealing the final set without dropping a game.

This marks Alcaraz’s seventh Masters 1000 final and his first title at this level since March of last year.

“This isn’t the way you like to win a tournament,” Alcaraz said during the trophy ceremony. “I really hope Musetti’s injury is nothing serious. It was a tough match. I’ve enjoyed this week more than I have in a long time. I’m very happy and excited to keep going.”

It was Alcaraz’s third consecutive clay-court final after winning the French Open and finishing with a silver medal at the Paris Olympics last year.
