M 1000 ROLEX MONTE-CARLO
Carlos Alcaraz (No. 3) and Lorenzo Musetti (No. 10) are set to face off this Sunday in the big final at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 — the third Masters event of the season. No matter who wins, there will be a new champion, since neither of them has lifted the prestigious trophy in the Principality before.
Alcaraz was the first to book his spot in the final, kicking off the day with a solid win over fellow Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, 7-6(2), 6-4. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, he came through a tough battle against France’s Arthur Fils (No. 15), winning 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
On Saturday, the Murcian had to work hard against Davidovich Fokina (No. 42), who’s still chasing his first ATP title and had already played a final here back in 2022. The Málaga native brought a strong game, but Alcaraz was more clutch when it mattered most and closed it out in straight sets.
