João Fonseca continues his impressive run at the 2025 Argentina Open. The Brazilian, just 18 years old, defeated Federico Coria after coming back from a tough first set, securing his spot in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires.
The 2024 Next-Gen Finals champion overcame the Argentine in the round of 16 with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory after two hours and 12 minutes of play. The match, held at the Guillermo Vilas Stadium in the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, had its share of tense moments, with a crowd that at times resembled a lively football atmosphere.
This will be Fonseca’s third time reaching an ATP quarterfinal, following his performances in Rio de Janeiro and Bucharest in 2024. His next challenge will be Mariano Navone.
