ALE!, GAEL !

M 1000 MONTE-CARLO
Gaël Monfils delivered a commanding performance to defeat Fabian Marozsan in three sets (4-6, 6-1, 6-1) at the Monte Carlo Masters 1000. After a shaky start, the Frenchman found his rhythm and showcased his trademark explosive style to storm through the second and third sets.

At 38 years old, Monfils continues to defy expectations with his athleticism, flair, and competitive spirit. A fan favorite for over a decade, he has reached two Grand Slam semifinals, won 12 ATP titles, and peaked at No. 6 in the ATP rankings.

Throughout his career, Monfils has been a consistent presence in Masters 1000 events. He has reached three Masters finals—in Paris (2009, 2010) and in Monte Carlo (2016)—and holds multiple semifinal appearances in tournaments like Madrid and Miami. His dynamic playing style and on-court charisma have made him one of the most entertaining players on tour.

Now, Monfils advances to the second round in Monte Carlo, where he will face Russia’s Andrey Rublev, looking to extend his strong start and continue his resurgence on clay.
